LESCO Tariff Slabs & Rates Guide

Understand how NEPRA calculates your electricity per-unit cost, how Protected vs Non-Protected status is determined, and how fixed charges apply across unit consumption slabs.

1. Protected vs. Non-Protected Domestic Status

Under NEPRA regulations, domestic electricity consumers in Pakistan are split into two major tariff categories: Protected and Non-Protected.

The 6-Month 200-Unit Benchmark Rule

A consumer is classified as Protected if their monthly energy consumption has remained at or below 200 units for the past 6 consecutive billing months. If your consumption crosses 200 units in even a single month, your account is reclassified as Non-Protected, shifting you to higher step-up slab rates and tier-based fixed monthly charges.

3. Time-of-Use (TOU) Peak & Off-Peak Hours

For commercial connections and 3-phase domestic connections equipped with Time-of-Use digital meters, LESCO charges higher per-unit rates during Peak hours to manage grid load:

Summer Peak Hours (April to Oct)

6:30 PM to 10:30 PM (4 hours of high-tariff demand rate).

Winter Peak Hours (Nov to March)

5:00 PM to 9:00 PM (4 hours of high-tariff demand rate).

NEPRA defines a 'Protected' domestic consumer as a residential connection whose monthly electricity consumption has remained 200 units or below consistently for the previous 6 consecutive billing months.
What happens if a protected consumer uses 201 units in a month?
Consuming even 1 unit above 200 (201 units) immediately revokes Protected status. The entire bill is reclassified under Non-Protected tariff rates, applying higher slab rates and fixed monthly charges.
What are LESCO Peak and Off-Peak hours?
Peak hours refer to high-demand evening hours (typically 5:00 PM to 11:00 PM depending on summer/winter schedules) when electricity demand peaks across the grid. Connections with 3-phase Time-of-Use (TOU) meters pay higher per-unit rates during Peak hours compared to Off-Peak hours.
